GROWING STRONG: Programs for Women

The Women's Growth Cooperative, Cleveland's women-oriented counseling service, announces an exciting and varied program of groups and workshops for Spring.

Anger! Buried anger is an unnecessary burden. Releasing anger enables us to re-experience warmth and pleasure. In a women-safe environ. ment, we will work in practical ways to let our anger out and learn to use it as a tool.

Six Thursday evenings beginning April 27, 7:30 to 9:30.

Personal Growth Group. An opportunity to share, in a supportive environment, experiences, problems, and the special dimensions of being a woman. Each woman will be encouraged to identify her strengths and goals and to use the group to do her personal growing in the areas she chooses. Six Wednesday evenings beginning May 3, 7:30 to 9:30.

Relationships.

A highly structured intensive one-day workshop exploring the dynamics of problems in the participants' important personal relationships with lovers, mates, close friends. Each participant will define her own needs and wants in a relationship, explore the nature and underlying causes of the problems and ways to approach the problems to achieve a sense of power and resolution.

Saturday, June 3, 10.a.m. to 5 p.m. Place to be given at time of registration,

Out of the Closet. This group is for lesbian women who are in the process of being more open with themselves, family, friends, or in work situations about their lesbianism and/or trying to establish a sense of community with other women. Six Monday evenings beginning April 24, 7:30 to 9:30.

Echoes of Rape.

Rape has long echoes for women who have experienced it or care about someone who has. In this group we will share those echoes, the meaning of rape and its aftermath and help each other learn to turn it into knowledge and strength. Five Tuesday evenings, beginning May 2, 7:00 to 9:00.

Assertiveness Training. Learn positive ways to stand up for personal rights and express your needs and feelings without violating the rights of others. We will examine our current behaviors and feelings in this area. Then the focus will be on learning communication which is neither hostile nor submissive. There will be opportunities to practice new behaviors in situations like those at home, at work, at social gatherings. Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The members of the Women's Growth Cooperative; Iris Bishop, Rita E. Coriell, Hetty Cowan, Janna Dieckmann, Lori Futterman, Pat Hoornstra, Mary Ann Huckabay, Marcia Kessler, Wegi Louise, Wendy Passov, Karen Quay.
